A Promise of Glory tells the epic tale of men driven by honesty and passion, whose dreams would shape the course of history.
Upon his arrival in Boston in the winter of 1775, Davy Strong was penniless, friendless, and as inexperienced as the rugged frontier. Yet, in a matter of months filled with challenges and upheaval, Davy would emerge as a pioneer of a new era. Caught between the traditions of the past and the beckoning call of the future, Davy finds himself torn between loyalty and love. This is not just his story, but also the story of the women who captured his heart: the fiery Isabella, who pursued her desires relentlessly but struggled to control her affections for Davy; her determined daughter, Martha, who harbored forgiveness and acceptance, even for her own mother; and the Native American girl who lay buried in the wilderness, holding onto Davy's childhood dreams.
Book One of the Call to Arms series follows Davy Strong on his journey of self-discovery and transformation against the backdrop of a changing world.
Born in Liverpool, England, Frederick Nolan, also known as 'Frederick H. Christian', received his education both in England and Aberaeron, Wales. Despite his early ambitions to become a writer, it took him nearly three decades to fulfill that goal. His debut book, The Life and Death of John Henry Tunstall, cemented his reputation as a leading authority on American frontier history.
Founding The English Westerners' Society, Frederick Nolan delved into writing beloved westerns like the Frank Angel series and contributing to the Sudden series created by Oliver Strange. His extensive body of work includes non-western novels such as the bestselling The Oshawa Project (published as The Algonquin Project in the US), adapted into the film Brass Target by MGM. Renowned for his expertise on outlaws and gunslingers of the Old West, Frederick has appeared on television programs in England and the US, and authored numerous articles in academic publications.
